Dr. Caner, graduated from Marmara University -Physics Education Undergraduate Program with a non-thesis master's degree in 2005 and started her master’s degree in mathematics and science education at Marmara University. Her master's thesis focused on determining the effect of Micro-Computer Based Laboratory (MBL) on high school students' learning of optics concepts. She has worked as a science/physics teacher and STEM coordinator in private schools for 7 years and received training such as Maker Teacher Education (Özyeğin University) and TUSIADSTEM Teacher Education. Between 2017 and 2018, she served as the education coordinator in the “Make Tomorrow” project conducted by Intel and the Turkish Technology Development Foundation (TTGV). She has been the Turkish ambassador for the Scientix Project, which is carried out by the European Schoolnet in 36 countries and aims to improve the quality of science and mathematics education in Europe, since 2016.
She completed her doctoral studies on “Determining Integrated STEM Teacher Competencies” at Marmara University in 2021. She worked as a part-time lecturer at Marmara University between 2019 and 2022. She taught “STEM Teacher Education, Technology-Assisted Physics Education, Misconceptions in Physics, Science and Research Ethics, Career Development in Teaching” courses to prospective physics teachers. She presented her studies on Science/Physics and STEM education as oral presentations at international conferences such as AERA, NARST, GIREP, ESERA.
As of August 2024, she is working as an Instructional Design Consultant at Özyeğin University Office of Learning and Teaching (OLTE).
