Yeşim Nalkesen Akın worked in an international language school for 5 years after graduating from Marmara University, the ELT Department. She gained experience in teaching General and Academic English, TOEFL IBT as well as Teaching Turkish for Foreigners. She also worked at Marmara University as an English Lecturer for two terms and enrolled in a Master’s Degree Program in 2007-2008 in the field of ELT. She studied Vocabulary Strategy Training and Learner Autonomy in her master’s thesis and completed her program with an honours degree.

She has had publications in the field of Educational Technology, Professional Development and Strategy Training.

She worked at Işık University between 2010 - 2019 as an English Lecturer; additionally she worked in the Professional Development Unit and was responsible for conducting needs analysis, designing training programs based on institutional and individual needs and took part in the recruitment process. She started her PhD Program at Bahçeşehir University and is a PhD Candidate in the field of Educational Technology. She is currently working on the design and development of a Course for Pre-service ELT Teachers through the Framework of Community of Inquiry Model.

She started working at Sabanci University as an English Lecturer in 2019. She also worked at Maltepe University for the 2020-2021 Spring Term teaching Instructional Technology Course. She earned the Teaching Award at Sabanci University for the terms 2020-2021 and 2021-2022.

Yeşim Nalkesen Akın has been working as a Learning Design Consultant at the Office for Learning and Teaching Enhancement (OLTE) since February 2022 offering consultancy to the Faculty of Law and ScOLa within the framework of techno-pedagogical framework by following the latest scientific research, projects, and practises in the relevant fields. She is working on the development of the Sectoral Education Program in coordination with relevant parties. She also offers individualised academic support to Özyeğin University students.
