
Cengiz Hakan AYDIN, PhD, is a full professor at Ozyegin University, Istanbul, Turkiye, where he serves as the Director of the Office of Teaching and Learning Enhancement (OLTE). In the past, Dr. AYDIN offered courses in the fields of open and distance learning (ODL), educational technology, and instructional design. He also served as the Chair of the Distance Education Department, Faculty of Open Education, Anadolu University, as the director of Anadolu University’s AKADEMA platform, as Dean of the Faculty of Economics, one of the three faculties that make up the Open Education System of the University, between 2013 and 2016, and as an instructional designer in the Open Education System from 1998 to 2017.
Dr. AYDIN’s research interests focus on a range of topics, such as innovative and flexible learning processes, environments and in higher education and in corporate settings, design and development of learning environments, integration of new technologies (AI, VR, AR, MR, etc.) into education and training, Open Educational Resources (OERs), Open Educational Practices (OEPs), Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), and current trends in higher education and corporate education.
Dr. AYDIN also served as the International Chair and Board Member of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT), as a board member of the International Council for Educational Media (ICEM), as a member of the Open Educational Resources Committee (OER Advocacy Committee) of the International Council for Distance Education (ICDE), and as an editorial member of Educational Media International (EMI). He is currently a steering committee member of the OpenupEd initiative of the European Council for Distance Teaching Universities (EADTU), board member of AECT, and member of the Centre for Distance Education Research (COER). He is also on the editorial boards of the International Review of Research in Open and Distance Learning (IRRODL), OpenPraxis, and the Journal of Open, Distance, and Digital Education (JODDE).
