Biography: Dr. Yeşim Nalkesen Akın completed her undergraduate education in English Language Teaching at Marmara University in 2006 and her master's degree in the same field at Yeditepe University. She completed her doctoral education in the field of Educational Technologies at Bahçeşehir University in 2023, with a dissertation focusing on instructional design and professional development.
She worked with various groups and institutions with diverse needs in the areas of teaching English, teaching Turkish to international students, and materials development at an international language centre between 2006 and 2010. During the academic years of 2008-2009, she also worked as a part-time instructor at Marmara University. From 2010 to 2019, she worked as an instructor at Işık University, taking on academic and administrative roles in the Professional Development Unit (CPD) from 2016 to 2019. From 2019 to 2022, she worked as an instructor at Sabancı University, continuing her work in professional development and material design. She has authored works in the fields of Community of Inquiry (CoI), educational technologies, professional development, and strategy training.
Dr. Nalkesen-Akın works as an instructor in the Sectoral Education Program at Özyeğin University, as the coordinator of the SEC 101 Course (First-Year Experience Program) at OLTE, and as a learning design consultant. She offers consultancy following the latest scientific research, projects, and practices in the field of educational science. She actively participates in coordination and all activities related to the design and implementation of the SEC 101 Introduction to University Course. Additionally, she offers individualised academic support to Özyeğin University students.
